With usage of septic tank, semisolid materials will be deposited at the bottom. To get rid of this, pumping the tank at least 2 to 3 years is good, but how often to pump it will depend on the size of tank. Some septic tanks come with visual indicators to check the amount of dirt deposited on its bed, and through which you can decide to when to pump.

But regular pumping is good, as you need not wait until a problem pops out. It will also keep it in condition.

Avoid disposing of all items

Remember that your toilet is not a dumping place! You should not throw away all types of items and flush away. These may cause obstructions inside the tank and demands frequent pumping and can lead to toilet repair problems.
